Meet Pastor Heitshusen!
When did you begin working at St. Mark? Summer, 2006
The best thing about St. Mark is: Hands down: the people: staff, congregation, and school families! Beyond that, the willingness to try new things.
Who is your hero? Ok, so this is probably expected and may seem like a Sunday school answer, but Jesus! His love, grace, servant's heart, and window to the Father are amazing and awe-inspiring. Second would be my wife, who is beautiful, fun, smart, and amazing. My son, Daniel, for his faith and servant heart. My father, for his integrity and servant heart.
If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have? Working to end sex trafficking. Really, something where I can help people by advocating for them, counseling them, coaching them, and supporting them. Or, a way I can help continue to preach and teach Scripture, technology, or combination.
What "lesson from mom" do you still live by today? Treat others how you want to be treated. If you can help others, do it.
Favorite quote/Bible verse: Really tough; but several passages from Romans 8.
What's the one thing you want to accomplish before you die? Make sure my son, Ben, who has Down syndrome, is taken care of. Make sure as many people as possible know about Jesus.
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be? Israel! While I'm dreaming: New Zealand and Germany/Austria, too.
Favorite movie of all time: Tough one, but you can't go wrong with The Princess Bride!
What's your favorite thing on your desk? Beyond pictures of my wife and boys, my Martin Luther Playmobil figure.
What's the most unusual place you have visited? The Sand-Covered Church near Skagen, Denmark
Favorite sports team: Houston Texans!
I've been told I look like: A salamander. Yes, really.
Favorite food/restaurant: A fabulous steak; Alaskan King
Crab legs; shrimp; tres leches; more! Yumm!!!
If I could learn to do anything, I would: I'd love to skydive! I'd also love to learn to convert a car to electric, metalworking, and woodworking.
The best concert I've ever attended: Garth Brooks! Also good: Skillet and Phil Collins.
