FAQs

How can I participate in Trunk or Treat?

Trunk or Treat is a fun and safe community event for all! Dress up in your favorite costume, walk around, & collect goodies from our decorated vehicle trunks.

Interested in helping? You can participate in three different ways:

  • Host A Trunk (park in the parking lot, dress up your trunk, & hand out goodies to kids)

  • Event Team (help run our church booth, greet & give directions to guests, assist guests with parking)

  • Donor (make a financial or supply donation to the event)

What should I wear?

Costumes are encouraged for young and old (kindly be mindful of small children at the event!)

What else should I expect?

This event is combined with our annual Reformation Picnic, a celebration of the historic founding of our church body. We’ll have playgrounds open, food trucks, community vendors, inflatables and a pumpkin patch. It’s fun for the whole family!

Is there a cost?

Our event is free! Invite your friends & neighbors (and even their well-behaved, leashed dogs), because all are welcome. Pet owners, please be prepared to clean up after your pooch.

There will be food for purchase and pumpkins in the patch will raise money for our High School youth 2025 summer trip.

How much candy (and what type) should I bring?

Please bring plenty individually-wrapped candy (or small items like stickers, glow sticks, or toys) for up to a few hundred children. If you'd like to purchase peanut-free candy, we encourage you to keep it in a separate bag so it does not mix in with other candy, keeping the label so nutritional information can be easily viewed.

Can I bring alternatives to candy?

Yes! Some popular items include glow sticks, stickers, plastic rings, erasers, fruit snacks, slap bracelets, mini pumpkins, coloring books, or crayons. Make sure you bring enough for up to a few hundred children.

Where should I park?

Participating trunks can pull into the Gym Lot on Pech Road. Please follow the directions from our Event Staff. They will direct you to your parking space. You may place lawn chairs and/or a small table directly in front of your own trunk.

Those who are attending the event or volunteering may park in the Church Lot or the Pond Lot on Hillendahl or across Pech Road in the Field Lot.

Do I need to register in advance?

If you would like to help with our Event Team or host a decorated trunk, please register online by October 20. If you're participating in collecting candy, you can just show up and enjoy the event!

What happens if there's inclement weather?

If weather conditions are dangerous, we will make an announcement on our social media channels (Facebook & Instagram) updating people about the event.

I'm unable to attend but I'd still love to support the event. What can I do?

We welcome donations of candy and funds alike to make this event special for the children of our community! To make a donation, please contact Rachel Winters, kidmin@stmarkhouston.org.
